Description
Cooper House was named after Mr and Mrs Sam and Lucy Cooper, the first people to make a donation to the vision of Wheller Gardens aged care community some 78 years ago.

A fitting legacy for Cooper House, which prides itself on being a close-knit community with caring staff and volunteers.

Cooper House has 58 cosy rooms all with easy access to an expansive outdoor area with beautiful gardens, seating, and a gazebo for entertaining visitors and a children’s play area.

A large communal lounge room overlooking the gardens, equipped with a piano, TV, DVD and stereo, encourages residents to socialise together or join family and friends for a leisurely cup of tea.

All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, cabling for TV, phone and Wi-Fi services and ensuite bathrooms. Full laundry services are also available, along with specialised diets.

Visitors to Cooper House will regularly see baby chickens hatching; aromatherapy and massage treatments, and concerts from school students.

Residents living at Cooper House have access to Wesley Mission Brisbane's own specialised on-site residential aged care allied health professionals. This means that residents have convenient and timely access to services such as podiatry, physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy and speech pathology.
This provides a streamlined approach for care, with allied health staff easily and confidentially able to communicate with nursing staff to tailor support to each residents' individual needs.

Cooper House is involved with Wesley Mission Brisbane’s Intergenerational Program, with Little Marchants Childcare centre, also located at Wheller Gardens. Residents enjoy regular visits from the children, that consist of singing, playing games and special events. The program is mutually beneficial, providing company and spontaneity for the residents and valuable interactions for the children.

Residents can enjoy all the services and benefits of being part of the wider Wheller Gardens community which include: a bowling green, library, hair salon, cafe, chapel, community hall and the co-located Wheller Gardens Day Therapy Centre.

Wheller Gardens is opportunely located in easy walking distance to public transport, Westfield shopping centre, multiplex cinemas, restaurants and the Chermside RSL and library hub. Residents enjoy the convenience of a Wheller Gardens bus for regular outings.
