Description
The Village was established in the late 1970s as the "Central Yorke Peninsula Retirement Village".

Eldercare undertook an extensive rebuilding of The Village in 1990, extending and adding another 15 rooms in 2003.

The Village is located in the country township of Maitland on the Yorke Peninsula, 15 minutes from the coast. The Village enjoys strong links with the local community and is a short walk from the hospital, medical centre and ambulance service. The Uniting Church is in close proximity as well as the local shops including the post office, banks, supermarket and chemist.

Located adjacent to The Village are 17 Eldercare retirement units, surrounded by gardens and lawns.

The Village features single rooms with their own air conditioning and ensuites. The facility is surrounded by established gardens, and features two secure courtyards in our Memory Support Unit. There is also a newly-built gazebo and barbeque area for residents and their families to enjoy. A dedicated horticultural therapist conducts group, as well as one-on-one lifestyle activities in the gardens.

The Village has landscaped gardens consisting of rose gardens, raised gardens beds for resident use, a gazebo area for BBQs and family functions and outdoor seats for residents to admire the gardens.

Meals are cooked onsite daily by a chef. A continental breakfast is provided Monday - Saturday, with a cooked breakfast offered on Sundays. There is a choice of two courses for lunch and three courses for evening meal.

We offer a wide range of leisure activities, to meet the individual needs and interests of our diverse resident group and our lifestyle program runs every day of the week.

Additionally, a comprehensive allied health service is provided by visiting speech pathologists, podiatrists, audiologists, optometrists and massage therapists.

Church services are held weekly in the chapel area, and the local Uniting Church maintains strong links with the facility. Our chaplain for the region provides emotional and spiritual support for residents and their families.

Our large central 'hub' is used for concerts and lifestyle events, and there is an onsite hairdressing salon and Village Shop operating once a week. The computer/Internet kiosk is available for residents to use daily, and The Village has its own library of large print books.

The Village has an established and dedicated volunteer team from across the close-knit community of Yorke Peninsula. The annual Village Fair and Open Day has become something of a local tradition, raising funds to support our lifestyle programs.

We offer a vibrant intergenerational program with schools students visiting and interacting on an individual basis with residents to share conversation and activities.
