Description
Barrington Lodge, which is administered by The Salvation Army, seeks to demonstrate the core values of human dignity, justice, hope, compassion and community and has always provided care for others in need without discrimination, regardless of their personal, financial and medical circumstances. We strive to meet the needs of others with diversity of service and respect for the individual. We value our long history of always being there and the reassurance that our permanence gives to those in need.

From the time of the individual pre-admission tour, staff are welcoming and supportive so that residents feel happy with their transition to their new home and become a part of the Barrington Lodge community while also maintaining connections with their loved ones. Barrington Lodge accommodates 77 residents and all have their own room with a private ensuite. Residents are encouraged to furnish and decorate their room as they choose to make it as individual and home-like as possible.

There are five lounge rooms which have televisions, comfortable seating and tea/coffee making facilities available for residents to sit and relax with friends and family. The corridors are wide and well-lit for your comfort and safety. The facility is set back from the road, with a wonderful rose garden and water feature at the front entrance and a turning circle which allows for convenient vehicular access.

Barrington Lodge is proud to be an 'Employer of Choice'. Our full time Chaplain is available for residents should they need a listening ear or some practical help. The Salvation Army Church services are held every Sunday and services for other denominations are also available. Staffing levels are high in order to provide excellent assistance while also allowing the time to provide supportive care, ensuring that residents remain as independent as possible. Residents are not just supported in their activities of daily living, but in their leisure activities too.

Barrington Lodge has fifteen dedicated volunteers who visit and assist the residents with a range of activities and functions. Excursions are tailored to safely include all residents who wish to participate. The pain management program which includes massage and hydrotherapy is extremely beneficial for all participating residents and has the effect of promoting health and well-being. All meals are prepared to individual requirements and cooked on site, under the direction of our award winning chef and are served directly to the dining rooms or via tray service to rooms. The pharmacy will conveniently package medications which qualified nurses can administer. The laundry service can be utilised for all personal laundry.

At Barrington Lodge, residents are welcome to receive a range of additional care and services including: hairdressing; access to the kiosk, vending machine and coffee machine; access to visiting allied health professionals e.g. optometry and audiology; labelling of clothing; telephone and appropriately qualified staff to accompany residents to medical appointments.

This is what one of our residents wrote to us about her admission: 'Having taken notice of the staff going about their business all appearing to be happy and bright, and the spaciousness of the internal building I made all the appropriate proceedings and was offered a room. The staff were all very efficient in helping me to settle in and in a few days it was feeling like home. This has continued on and I now enjoy and take part in most activities the 'pink ladies' and volunteers organise, especially physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. I would recommend anyone to enter this complex'.
